Costs down and productivity up, thanks to Minorplanet System

Norse Commercial Services is improving productivity and reducing its vehicle running costs by specifying fleet management solutions from telematics specialists Minorplanet Systems.

Norse delivers high quality services to both the public and private sectors throughout the United Kingdom. More than 350 vehicles operated by Norse Commercial Services have had Minorplanet vehicle management systems installed over the past four years.

The vehicles are used for a variety of services including: building and grounds maintenance, waste management, engineering services and community equipment supply. They are operated by Norse on behalf of local authorities in Norfolk, Suffolk, Great Yarmouth, and Waveney (Lowestoft).

Norse Commercial Services, part of the Norse Group, report that the ability of managers to plot the exact locations of its vehicles means they can easily allocate tasks to the most appropriately located vehicle. As a result, field operatives carry out their projects more quickly and effectively.

“Our ability to monitor vehicle movements means the vehicles are only used on official business, which saves costs. In addition, the ability to track the location of vehicles in real time means vehicles spend the minimum time travelling between jobs. This enables us to deploy our fleet at maximum efficiency and also helps us to further cut costs.”

At the heart of the Norse Commercial Services telematics system is Minorplanet’s VMIgreenlightTM the web-based, centrally-hosted system. This gives management the ability to track, monitor and access real-time and historic information about their vehicles and drivers. The system allows them to identify trends, analyse costs and highlight any exceptions against Key Performance Indicators to reduce costs and increase productivity. Thanks to the Performance Manager add-on, managers at Norse Commercial Services can see at a glance the number of journey stops made by each vehicle, distance travelled, hours worked, speeding and idling exceptions.

A simple onscreen display instantly reveals headline areas of good or bad performance or non-compliance.
