Asset Tracking Full GPS asset tracking capability for trailers and valuable plantThe Minorplanet Asset Tracker is designed to be fitted to a trailer, plant or other valuable asset. The unit is fully compatible with VMIgreenlight®, can be activated by the integral motion sensor, and is capable of periodic or live, minute-by-minute tracking. Download VMIgreenlight® Asset Tracking product sheet The Asset Tracker uses GPS to determine its position and then transmits this over a GPRS mobile data network. It contains a motion sensor, an internal battery and is housed in a case which is fixed to the trailer and wired to a GSM/GPS antenna. There are two types of Asset Tracker available dependant on the choice of power source. If power can be supplied, an auto-rechargeable option is available. For instances where power cannot be supplied, a disposable battery version is available. With either configuration, when the battery has been run down to 10% of its original charge an alert is sent to the system user. Fully compatible with VMIgreenlight® tracking system... - Ensure valuable loads are en-route to correct location
- Make more effi cient use of trailers
- Locate parked trailers
- Locate stolen trailers and goods
- Risk management/assurance of key assets
- Possible reduction in insurance premiums
Two types of Asset tracking dependant upon power source...- Auto-recharge and battery power options
- A number of alerts are provided including “Battery Low” and “Power OK”
- Can be mounted covertly
- Auto-recharge option provides live minute-by-minute tracking (with a suitable power source)
Auto-recharge and battery power optionsThe Asset Tracker can be provided with disposable batteries which will allow the transmission of 1 to 10 positions per day at specified time intervals. Because the number of transmissions is known, battery life can be more accurately predicted, and is estimated at 1 year based on typical usage. Alternatively, using its built in motion sensor the Asset Tracker can be configured to detect each time the trailer stops moving and then transmit its last known position. This has the advantage of informing the fleet manager when an event of actual significance has occurred (for example an unscheduled stop or arriving at an important location). Battery life is less predictable since it will depend upon the number of times the vehicle stops. The Auto-recharge option can be configured to provide live, minute by minute tracking and is housed in a tough, waterproof (IP66 rated) polycarbonate case. In addition to a motion sensor and internal battery, a charging circuit is included which, when connected to a compatible power source, continuously re-charges the battery. The unit requires no additional driver intervention to recharge the batteries. Instead, power is taken (indirectly) from the tractor unit so that whenever the trailer and tractor are correctly connected, the charging circuit will automatically recharge the battery. While the tractor unit is connected, live, minute-by-minute tracking commences. When the tractor unit is disconnected and the motion sensor detects no further movement, the unit switches into hibernation mode and positional information ceases. If the motion sensor detects any subsequent movement, the unit activates and re-commences live minute by minute tracking until either the movement ceases, or the battery is exhausted. Working closely with braking systems manufacturers, Minorplanet has an approved method of taking power from certain braking systems with the Vehicle and Operators Services Agency (VOSA). There are several Electronic Braking Systems (EBS’s) on the market and we have already agreed processes for Haldex, Wabco and Knorr-Bremse EBSs. To determine compatibility, we would need the following information: trailer manufacturer, trailer brakes’ manufacturer, model number and year. Superior asset trackingSuccessful asset management goes beyond knowing where your assets are now and where they have been. It encompasses the ability to access detailed management information to plan the future success of your business. Millions of pounds are wasted each year due to lack of control in fleet management. Minorplanet’s asset tracking provides this control simply and effectively ensuring you and your customers know where they are at any given time. This helps to increase the efficiency of scheduling, planning and routing. Required service & maintenance work can be planned into the work schedule to minimise the impact of asset downtime. VMIgreenlight® uses the most sophisticated software available to help businesses of all sizes reduce fleet running costs and increase company productivity. It is the easiest to use, feature-rich system available on the market today. Download VMIgreenlight® Asset Tracking product sheet |
